Web 3.0 - It's coming sooner than you think.
Many of us are still struggling to bring our pages up to web 2.0 compliance, so it may seem a little premature to start preparing for web 3.0. However, as you read this, the web 3.0 consortium is putting the final touches on its recommendations for the official web 3.0 release. Therefore, we think it's the perfect time to give a brief preview of the exciting new features available with web 3.0.
- roundr cornrs - One of the most anticipated new features of web 3.0 is roundr cornrs. With web 2.0 rounded corners, the maximum radius for a single corner was 90 degrees. Now, with web 3.0 roundr cornrs, a full 270 degree radius is possible!
- square-round corners - another top request has been the ability to make a rounded corner square. In web 3.0, it's easily achieved by simply setting the initial rounded corner radius and then setting the square-round-corner-border-radius-angle tag to zero.
(ex. style="border-radius:10px; square-round-corner-border-radius-angle:0;") - glossr technology - makes glossy badges, buttons, and other items 300.08% glossier
- native left-right and top-down diagonal stripe support - multi-directional diagonal stripe support has been needed for years. It's finally addressed with web 3.0
These new features are much needed, but as always, there will be a short period of 2-13 years where you will need to support both web 2.0, web 3.0, and even some web 1.0 browsers. Perhaps the best thing about web 3.0 is that it is completely backwards compatible. For example, square-round corners should render as simple rounded corners in a web 2.0 browser, and fall back to a standard square corner if rendered on a pre-web 2.0 browser. A glossr badge will render as a slightly glossy badge in a web 2.0 browser, and a dull badge on some old bullshit web 1.0 browser.
As you can see, there are exciting possibilities just around the cornr! Be sure to check back tomorrow when we discuss how web 3.0 will handle sticker effects.
