Ten(7) Reasons Why Tables are Better than CSS

  • Tables are easy to use.

  • You don't have to be an internet genius to use a table. You can put anyone in a chair, show them a table, and with just a few simple examples have them interfacing with the table. Good luck teaching your grandmother CSS!

  • You can fit more into a table layout than CSS.

  • Depending on the size of your table, you can fit way more content than with CSS. I don't know about you, but I have several tables lying around that hold way more than a standard resolution monitor. Plus, layers are very easy to achieve with tables, due to the fact that elements are easy to stack.

  • Tables are far more versatile.

  • A lot of people say that you can do more with CSS than standard markup, but I'm not sure what they mean by that. My table has gotten pretty 'marked-up' over time, but I feel that it has more character because of that. And I don't really see how that affects my ability to use a table for different purposes.

  • Tables are browser agnostic.

  • I have never had an issue with any table regardless of which browser I use. Even if you use lynx, you can still use a table to its maximum ability.

  • Tables can hold CSS, but not vice-versa

  • Many times I have printed my code and laid it out on a table. It's simple really. I have never been able to successfully jam my table into a CSS layout, and usually just end up knocking everything on my desk onto the floor when I try. I have broken three monitors trying this. I am frustrated with the concept of it. In fact, MY NEXT COMPUTER IS GOING ON A TABLE!

  • Humans can directly interface with tables.

  • You can use tables all day at work, but with CSS you'll be working on the floor.

  • I've worked for a lot of companies that had to cut corners on developement and hardware. Even if your office is in some dark, dank alley, you'd probably still prefer to proram with a table right?

  • Tables bring families closer together.

  • When I was growing up, my family always used tables for centralization. In fact, at the time, CSS wasn't even invented.

  • Tables provide resting places for kitties.

  • I think this one is fairly self-explanatory, so I will explain it in greater detail:
Kitties can sleep on tables. They like to sleep on tables. I've never known a kitty that didn't like to sleep on a table. On the contrary, I have never know a kitty that liked to sleep on CSS.

  • Humans can directly interface with tables.

  • As I write this, I am using a table. My environment is an Asus laptop, and though it might not be the best in its class, it interfaces with my 72x24x30 inch table just fine.

  • Lorem Ipsum rounds out additional arguments.

  • Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec pretium. Vestibulum a ligula. Etiam dapibus dictum tortor. Phasellus ac orci. Donec eleifend nunc quis diam. Proin felis.

  • Tables provide long-running, reliable construction.

  • Tables have been around nigh on forever, they are extemely reliable. When you deal with a table, you know you're basically going to get a flat surface with which to do what you please. Tables last longer because they are often made of wood or other durable materials
